Citation:a souligné Jaurès Alferov.
Citation:a souligné l'académicien. "

Citation:Giant Meteor Fireball Explodes Over Northwest U.S.
Citation:
A meteor zipped across the U.S. Pacific Northwest sky early Tuesday morning before exploding, possibly littering eastern Oregon with marble- to basketball-size space rocks, an expert says.
Impact sites are yet to be found, according to Richard Pugh, a scientist with the Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory at Portland State University in Oregon.
Pugh is coordinating a search for potential meteorites. He said 40 to 50 eyewitnesses have contacted his lab to report the fireball.
According to the reports, the event happened around 5:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday. The meteor was first spotted over Washington State moving in an east-southeast direction.
"The light was bright enough to wake up people even though the shades were pulled, and then the sonic boom hit, rattling windows and making the dust fly, and the dogs crawled under the bed," Pugh said.
"And following the heavy boom, in a number of cases we have rumbling a few minutes later. This kind of sound effect usually indicates there are rocks on the ground."
Pugh added that descriptions of the explosion suggest the meteor was rocky and likely sprayed debris over several square miles.
Finding Fragments
Preliminary analysis of the reports indicates any surviving rock fragments are located in the prairie outside the town of Pendleton, Oregon, or in the nearby Blue Mountains (see map).
Given the likely small size of any impacting fragments in a rural area, chances of recovery are slim, Pugh noted.
"Our hope is that somebody got a rock through a barn roof out there somewhere," he said.

Hello,
I think we all heard in the last couples of weeks about the spy satellite which seems to be now not anymore under control. To avoid the risk of this satellite falling on earth, the solution could be to shoot it down.

AP: U.S. to shoot down errant satellite
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, The Associated Press has learned.
Citation:
U.S. officials said Thursday that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the options will not be publicly discussed until a later Pentagon briefing.
The disabled satellite is expected to hit the Earth the first week of March. Officials said the Navy would likely shoot it down before then, using a special missile modified for the task. Other details about the missile and the targeting were not immediately available.
But the decision involves several U.S. agencies, including the National Security Agency, the Department of Homeland Defense and the State Department. Shooting down a satellite is particularly sensitive because of the controversy surrounding China's anti-satellite test last year, when Beijing shot down one of its defunct weather satellites, drawing immediate criticism from the U.S. and other countries.
A key concern at that time was the debris created by Chinese satellite's destruction -- and that will also be a focus now, as the U.S. determines exactly when and under what circumstances to shoot down its errant satellite.
The military will have to choose a time and a location that will avoid to the greatest degree any damage to other satellites in the sky.
Also, there is the possibility that large pieces could remain, and either stay in orbit where they can collide with other satellites or possibly fall to Earth.
It is not known where the satellite will hit. But officials familiar with the situation say about half of the 5,000-pound spacecraft is expected to survive its blazing descent through the atmosphere and will scatter debris -- some of it potentially hazardous -- over several hundred miles.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
The satellite is outfitted with thrusters -- small engines used to position it in space. They contain the toxic rocket fuel hydrazine, which can cause harm to anyone who contacts it.
A U.S. official confirmed earlier that the spy satellite is designated by the military as US 193, according to an AP report.
It was launched in December 2006 but almost immediately lost power and cannot be controlled. It carried a sophisticated and secret imaging sensor but the satellite's central computer failed shortly after launch

English version
There have been a few documented reports of previous, “Black Triangle UFO” sightings, possibly the most famous spate being the Belgium UFO Flap of the early 90's. Well, it actually started in November 1989, and in December 1989, the Royal Belgian Air Force (RBAF) was contacted by hundreds of panicked citizens reporting a triangular craft with a light at each corner.
This resulted in collaboration between the Belgian Air Force, the Belgian Police Force and local UFO research groups, and the RBAF agreeing to try and intercept any subsequent triangular craft that invaded Belgian air space.
Enhanced (animated) image. (15th June 1990, Wallonia, Belgium)

It is known that on at least two occasions the RBAF scrambled two F-16's to attempt the, “Intercept.” But the 2,000 km/h craft were evidently too slow as upon their arrival the triangular craft were no-where to be seen.
This caused the Belgian Air Ministry to assemble an entire squadron of F-16's ready to be scrambled once a UFO sighting had been confirmed by RADAR. On the 30th March 1990 at around 11pm a witness called in a sighting, reporting a triangular UFO with lights on its corners. This was confirmed by the Belgian Police and by <ground based> RADAR bases. One of these bases was NATO controlled near the city of Glons , southeast of Brussels . After contacting other radar facilities, they learned that at least four other stations were also reporting the object on their screens. The object was moving across their screens slowly, and failed to send a transponder signal to identify itself.
Immediately the RBAF scrambled two F-16s and from a distance of 12km they managed to get a "lock on" to the UFO only for the UFO to, "Shrug it off.” Over the next few minutes that the encounter continued, they locked on anoher six or so times, one of these times the UFO was reportedly locked on by no less than three F-16's!!
The pilots were considered to be among NATO's best and NO KNOWN aircraft is capable of avoiding an F-16 missile lock of more than two <F-16's> never mind three missile locks.
Enhanced (animated) image. (4th April, 1990, Petit Rechain, Belgium)

The experienced fighter pilots were stunned by acceleration of the UFO, which included 280 km/h to 1800 km/h in less than a second while descending from an altitude of 3 km to 1.7 km, and then coming to a dead stop. These unbelievable manoeuvres were confirmed as RADAR showed the craft almost instantly drop from 10,000 to 500 feet in no less than 5 seconds!!
The triangular UFO finally dropped to just 200 metres above the suburbs of Brussels before disappearing from the RADAR screen completely.
For some rare video clips of the Black Triangle UFO's caught in flight, see the blog post by clicking this text.
22 June 1990 at press conference regarding the Belgian UFO flap
Wilfried De Brouwer is a retired Major General of the Belgian Air Force and was Chief Operations in the Air Staff when the Belgian UFO Wave hit. He was recently part of the National Press Conference where pilots of different nationalities all gave testimonies of their personal experiences with UFO's (while piloting aircraft.)
Here is the testimony of Wilfried De Brouwer that he gave at the recent National Press Conference: Wilfried De Brouwer
My name is Wilfried De Brouwer. I am a retired Major General of the Belgian Air Force and I was Chief Operations in the Air Staff when an exceptional UFO wave took place over Belgium . Indeed, during the evening of 29 November 1989, in a small area in Eastern Belgium , approximately 140 UFO sightings were reported. Hundreds of people saw a majestic triangular craft with a span of approximately 120 feet, powerful beaming spot lights, moving very slowly without making any significant noise but, in several cases, accelerating to very high speeds.
The following days and months, many more sightings would follow. The UFO wave would last more than one year during which a Belgian UFO organization conducted more than 650 investigations and recorded more than 400 hours of audio witness reports. On one occasion, a photograph revealed the triangular shape and four light beams of the object.
Belgium had no official focal point for reporting UFO observations. Nevertheless, in my function of Chief Operations, I was confronted with numerous questions about the origin and nature of these craft. In the first instance, and in consultation with other NATO partners, I could confirm that no flights of stealth aircraft or any other experimental aircraft took place in the airspace of Belgium . In addition, the Civil Aviation Authorities confirmed that no flight plans had been introduced. This implied that the reported object(s) committed an infraction against the existing aviation rules.
The Belgian Air Force tried to identify the alleged intruder(s) and, on three occasions, launched F-16 aircraft.
On one occasion, two F-16 registered rapid changes in speed and altitude which were well outside of the performance envelope of existing aircraft. Nevertheless, the pilots could not establish visual contact and the investigation revealed that specific weather conditions may have caused electromagnetic interferences and false returns on the radar screens. The technical evidence was insufficient to conclude that abnormal air activities took place during that evening.
In short, the Belgian UFO wave was exceptional and the Air Force could not identify the nature, origin and intentions of the reported phenomena.

And here's a summarised report of the Belgian 1990 UFO flap, signed by Wilfried De Brouwer. Summary of the official report by the Belgian Air Force
(Regarding the UFO events of March, 1990)
1. Starting early Dec 89 the BAF has been contacted on several occasions by eyewitnesses who observed strange phenomena in the Belgian airspace. On some occasions they described the phenomena as a triangle-shaped platform up to 200 feet wide with 3 downward beaming projectors, hovering at +- 100 m above the ground and making only a very light humming noise. Some witnesses saw the object departing at very high speed after a very fast acceleration. All observations were made in the evening or during the night.
2. The radar stations which had been alerted by eyewitnesses could not definitely determine a correlation between the visual observations and their detection on radar. On two occasions the BAF scrambled 2 F16 during the evening hours.
a. On the first occasion the F16 arrived +- 1 hour after the visual detection. Nothing was observed.
b. On the second occasion, pilots could identify a laser-beam projector on the ground. After investigation it appeared however that the description of the observations totally differed from previously described phenomena.
3. Consequently the Belgian Airforce, anxious to identify the origin of the phenomena, authorised F16 scrambles if following conditions were met:
a. Visual observations on the ground confirmed by the local police.
b. Detection on radar.
Events:
4. On 30 Mar 1990 at 23.00 Hr the Master Controller (MC) of the Air Defense radar station of Glons received a phone call from a person who declared to observe three independent blinking lights in the sky, changing colours, with a much higher intensity than the lights of the stars and forming a triangle. Meteo conditions were clear sky, no clouds, light wind and a minor temperature inversion at 3000 Ft.
5. The MC in turn notified the police of WAVRE which confirmed the sighting at +- 23 30 Hr. Meanwhile the MC had identified a radar contact at about 8 NM North of the ground observation. The contact moved slowely to the West at a speed of =- 25kts and an altitude of 10.000 Ft.
6. The ground observers reported 3 additional light spots which moved gradually, with irregular speeds, towards the first set of lights and forming a second triangle.
7. At 23.50 a second radar station, situated at +- 100 NM from the first, confirmed an identical contact at the same place of the radar contact of Glons.
8. At 00.05 2 F16 were scrambled from BEAUVECHAIN airbase and guided towards the radar contacts. A total of 9 interception attempts have been made. At 6 occasions the pilots could establish a lock-on with their air interception radar. Lock-on distances varied between 5 and 8 NM. On all occasions targets varied speed and altitude very quickly and break-locks occurred after 10 to 60 seconds. Speeds varied between 150 and 1010 kts. At 3 occasions both F16 registered simultaneous lock-ons with the same parameters. The 2 F16 were flying +- 2 NM apart. No visual contact could be established by either of the F16 pilots.
9. The F16 flew 3 times through the observation field of the ground observers. At the third passage the ground observers notified a change in the behavior of the light spots. The most luminous started to blink very intensively while the other disappeared. Consequently, the most luminous spot started to dim gradually.
10. Meanwhile the head of the police of WAVRE had alerted 4 other police stations in the area. All four, separated +- 10 NM from each other, confirmed the visual observations.
11. The aircraft landed at 01.10 Hrs. The last visual observation was recorded at +- 01.30 Hrs.
Conclusions:
12. The Belgian Air Force was unable to identify neither the nature nor the origin of the phenomena. However, it had sufficient elements to exclude following assumptions:
a. Balloons. Impossible due to the highly variable speeds (confirmed visually and by radar).
b. ULM . Same as for balloons.
c. RPV. Impossible due to the hovering characteristics.
d. Aircraft (including Stealth). Same as for RPV. No noise.
e. Laser projections or Mirages. Unlikely due to lack of projection surface (no clouds). Light spots have been observed from different locations. Light spots moved over distance of more than 15 NM. Form of inlighted part of spots has been observed with spectacles. Laser projections or mirages can not be detected by radar.

*** A report from Jose A. Martinez ***
Last night, January 18 2008 at 10:15 p.m. on the coastal sector of Guanica (southwestern Puerto Rico) an enormous classic "flying saucer" object was reported, with hundreds of rows of red lights surroudning it. Before the sighting, the witnesses alleged -- and I confirm what they said -- having heard an airplane flying overhead at exactly that time, as I was watching television at that hour. The witnesses were more numerous in the upper area of Vivones when they observed the transit of the airplane, followed by this round, enormous flying artifact with red lights.
The object rested for several minutes on a nearby hill, at very low altitude, nearly treetop level, blinding witnesses with its red lights. Among them were Roberto Garcia and wife Patricia, who tried to photograph the object with their cell phone but didn't manage to obtain an image. Other local residents were frightened and unable to sleep that night after the object took off toward Lajas at high spped. The witnesses told me that this is not the first case that they've seen in the at this hour of the night.
The object made no sound whatsoever, the night was clear and full of stars, and the aerostat could be seen at low altitude and in the distance. It is impossible to mistake the Lajas Aerostat with the object reported by the witnesses.
We will be on the lookout for more witnesses to this interesting event.
Sincerely,
Jose Martinez

Hello,
For those interested by Dogon's history, someone posted this complete article about this civilization.
Need to go deep in details because there are a lot of references :
Section 1:
Introduction
Section 2 :
Alleged Knowledge
Section 3 :
Contamination
Section 4 :
Out-dated Knowledge
Section 5 :
What about Sirius C?
Section 6 :
Did the Dogon even say anything about Sirius B and Sirius C?
Section 7 :
Conclusion
Section 8 :
References
I have no personnal position about the ideas developped here, because it's a huge amount of work which has been done. And I have not yet read everything. But that's the level of details and references which made me think it could be interesting to put those articles here.

Bonjour à tous,
Citation:

Why changing the name of this area ?

Area 51 new name
Citation:Area 51 designated with a new name

The Air Force’s classified test range at Groom Lake, Nev., has never lacked for evocative nicknames — it and its restricted airspace have been called Dreamland, Paradise Ranch, The Box and, most famously, Area 51. Now there’s a less romantic moniker to throw on the pile: “Homey Airport,” according to a few civilian aviation journals.
“Homey Airport” now appears as the official name for a certain air base near a certain dry lake bed in Nevada, according to reports in the Web site of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, as well as the Daily Aviator blog and others. New editions of flight planning software and civilian aviators’ GPS gear lists the name and the official designation “KXTA” — which online wags have speculated stands for “extraterrestrial airport.” (The “k” designation indicates only that the field is in the U.S., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.)
Capt. Jessica Martin, a spokeswoman for Nellis Air Force Base, which sits 85 miles south of Homey Airport and is responsible for the airspace and any ground facilities, said that “we already know about the designation, but it doesn’t have any effect on operations at the base.”
Martin said she didn’t know the origin of the name “Homey Airport.”
Featured in movies, TV shows and video games, Area 51 is likely the most famous top-secret facility in the world and a favorite component of UFO and military conspiracy theories.
The Department of Defense didn’t even acknowledge the base existed until 1994, when former base employees sued the government and claimed they’d been poisoned by hazardous materials used at the base for research into stealth technology.
Although the base and its work have long been highly classified, many of the aircraft tested there through the years are publicly familiar: the U2 and SR-71 Blackbird spy planes and the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter all flew first off the long runways and dry lakebeds at Groom Lake.
Some enthusiasts believe that work continues there today on advanced aircraft — including unmanned aerial vehicles, high-speed reconnaissance craft and even high-altitude blimps — though alien conspiracy buffs also speculate that Area 51’s high profile has forced officials to move much of the top-secret stuff to the Army’s Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

Hopefully, it seems that experts are sure it will not fell on our heads

A HUGE asteroid will zoom past Earth next week and will be so close that amateur astronomers should be able to spot it, experts say.
Measuring between 150m and 600m across, asteroid 2007 TU24 would inflict devastating regional damage were it to hit Earth, but there is no risk of any collision, they said.
It will pass on Tuesday and come to within 534,000km of the Earth at its closest point at 6.34pm Queensland time according to a Near Earth Object database compiled by the University of Pisa in Italy.
"For a brief time the asteroid will be observable in dark and clear skies with amateur telescopes of three inches (7.5cm) or larger," NASA said on its NEO site.
Asteroid 2007 TU24 will make the closest approach of any known potentially hazardous asteroid of this size or larger until 2027, NASA said, adding that objects of this size come close to Earth about every five years or so on average.
The rock was discovered only last October under a surveillance program run by the University of Arizona.
According to the Minor Planet Centre of the Paris-based International Astronomical Union (IAU), the closest detected approach by an asteroid was on March 31, 2004, by 2004 FU162, which came within 6500km of Earth.
The day after 2007 TU24's terrestrial flyby, asteroid 2007 WD5 is expected to come within 26,000km of Mars, a distance that is less than a whisker in space terms.
Asteroid 2007 WD5 ignited a brief surge of excitement among astronomers after it was discovered in November.
Initial computations of its orbit gave a roughly 1-in-25 chance that it might whack into Mars on January 30, providing a celestial show that could be monitored by US and European scoutcraft there.
Measuring about 50m across, it would have delivered an impact equivalent to a three-megaton nuclear weapon.
A rock of this size exploded in the atmosphere over Tunguska, Siberia, in 1908, felling around 80 million trees over 2200 sq km.
But further calculation showed that the big splat would be a big miss.
"It's highly unlikely that it's going to hit," said NEO expert Benny Peiser of Liverpool John Moores University in northwestern England, as the odds of a collision by 2007 WD5 fell to around 0.01 per cent, or one in 10,000.
